In April 2015, Google released a new mobile-friendly ranking algorithm. Simply put, if someone is searching Google from a mobile device – such as a smartphone or tablet – websites that are mobile-friendly will get a higher Google page ranking than websites that are not. Pages with a higher Google page rank show up closer to that valued ‘number one’ spot in Google searches.
Right now almost 50% of all Google searches are done from a mobile device, so it’s easy to see that if your site is not mobile-friendly, your business is automatically being moved down in the search rankings.
If you’re not sure if your site is mobile-friendly, you can find out by going to Google’s free testing tool. Just enter your URL and Google will analyze your site and give you a detailed report.
